Manuel Freitas was born in a small town, outside the city of Porto in Portugal in 1963. Son of Henrique de Jesus Freitas, a builder (from the age of 11 years). The family relocated to Zimbabwe where Freitas Snr continued his trade on construction sites, whilst educating and raising his family. From high school, Manuel continued his tertiary education at a private college in Zimbabwe. The family relocated to RSA in December 1982. Whilst assisting his father on weekends, with further apprenticeship (and still studying) he eventually made the commitment to join his father in the construction industry full time. Their joint efforts were rewarded with the evolvement of a small company comprising of a trusted Toyota (nicknamed Rusty) and three loyal labourers.
This was their watershed with “Pai”(father) Freitas and young Manuel working together, building and discovering the intricate world of financial gearing. Fear of insufficient work and the enormous responsibility spurred them to creating their own development and construction company. This culminated in the birth of the Development Division, during March 1988. With the additional employment of a site agent and quantity surveyor they located to a small office in Randburg.
